Toronto Zoo - 2026

I took a trip out to the Toronto Zoo this year to see if I could snap some good photos using my 150-600mm lens that I picked up a few years ago.

I think it worked out pretty well but I've learned a few things

  1. I need to focus on my aperture more. Some photos were wide open and resulted in a slightly out of focus subject.
  2. I need to slow down and take my time with some of the subjects.
  3. Unsurprisingly this lens performs poorly in the pavilions. I think focusing on the aperture and finding a way to stabilize the camera better for the longer exposure time.
  4. Shoot raw
  5. Enable exposure bracketing. It's only when I got home that I noticed that some shots were far too dark or bright.
  6. Bring an extra battery and SD card.
